International Women's Day

finds its origins in the demonstrations of women at the beginning of the 20th century, which emerged in Europe and the United States to demand better working conditions and the right to vote.

It was in 1975, during International Women's Year, that the UN began celebrating International Women's Day on March 8.

It is a global day of gathering to take stock of the situation of women and promote gender equality.

Around the world, events are organized with the aim of:

  • Celebrate victories and progress
  • Raise awareness, challenge and inform about inequalities between women and men.
  • Working to improve the situation of women
  • Mobilize in favor of women's rights in political and economic life

This day is also an opportunity to pay tribute to ordinary women who have left their mark on history. According to UNESCO:

“This is an opportunity to highlight the remarkable achievements of women and to unite to advance gender equality around the world.”

It highlights progress towards gender equality and calls for critical reflection on ongoing efforts, while encouraging more dynamic global action.

By bringing together women of all origins and cultures, this day symbolizes decades of struggle for equality, justice, peace and development.

Everyone can contribute to this effort, whether through campaigns, community events, fundraising activities or other forms of support.

Together, let's foster an environment where everyone can thrive fully!
