World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development
May 21 was the date chosen, following the adoption by UNESCO in 2001 of the Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity.
Through this annual event, the UN is committed to reminding people of the importance of intercultural understanding in order to learn to better "live together".
A day that celebrates not only the richness of the world's cultures, but also the essential role of intercultural dialogue for peace and sustainable development. An opportunity to promote culture and highlight the importance of its diversity as a vehicle for inclusion and constructive change.
